Ik werd doof toen ik tweeënhalf jaar was ten gevolge van een hersenvliesontsteking. Tijdens mijn sollicitaties ontdekte ik dat er weinig informatie over dove mensen op de arbeidsmarkt is. Ik zet me daarom ook in voor mensen met een auditieve beperking op de arbeidsmarkt. Ik help werkgevers met het vinden van een goede match met werkzoekers en geef aanvullende informatie met eventueel adviezen over mensen met onder andere een auditieve beperking. Ik heb een ruime ervaring als werknemer en als zelfstandige. Je mag me daarover alles vragen. Daarnaast ben ik echtgenoot en moeder. Zelf heb ik een progressieve spierziekte die ervoor zorgt dat mijn spierweefsel dunner wordt (atrofie). Ik heb daardoor minder kracht en lever in op mijn functionaliteit. Ik vind het leuk om mensen iets te leren. Als maatschappelijk werker voor mijn eigen bedrijf Werkenmens met Mirnou wil ik geen ‘problemen’ voor mensen oplossen, maar hen zelf leren de problemen aan te pakken. Door mijn werk heb ik veel ervaring en kennis opgedaan over werken binnen het sociale domein met een beperking.
